8 tbsp baking soda
4 tbsp white vinegar
1 tsp golden syrup
4 tbsp cornflour
Food colouring or food colouring gels in different colours
Mixing spoon
Container or jug with a spout
Mini muffin tin with 12 compartments
Toothpicks
Paint brushes and paper
How to make your watercolour paints
1. Mix the baking soda and vinegar together in a container or jug with a spout and wait for the fizzing to stop.
2. Add the golden syrup and cornflour and mix well until the cornflour has dissolved.
3. Pour the mixture into the muffin tin, filling each compartment to half-full.
4. Use a toothpick to add a few drops of food colouring to one of the muffin tin compartments.
5. Repeat using a clean toothpick and a different food colouring colour for each compartment.
6. Stir the mixture in each compartment with a clean toothpick until the food colouring is fully blended.
7. You're now ready to start painting using the paint brushes and paper (and fingers too!).
