Dinosaur party ideas for toddlers & preschoolers
1. Before the party
Send out dinosaur party invitations to help set the scene for your little one’s special day.
Toddlers and preschoolers love wearing hats and dressing up, so why not ask your party guests to come dressed as dinosaurs or get them to wear a dinosaur hat or tail.
2. Set up a backdrop
Hire a mesh or netting wall to create an instant backdrop to sit behind your party table or in your party room. Then attach balloons, photos or dinosaur party decorations to help set the scene.
You could even attach some foliage to help create a tropical dinosaur jungle.
3. Decorate your party room
A quick way to create a fun party atmosphere is with bunches of helium filled balloons or dinosaur foil balloons.
Choose balloons in a colour or colours to suit your party theme. Then weight down the balloons with plastic dinosaur toys or figurines.
The balloons and dinosaur toys or figurines also make great party favours for toddlers and preschoolers to take home with them.
You could also decorate your party room with dinosaur eggs, streamers and a happy birthday dinosaur banner.
4. Your party table
A dinosaur table centrepiece is a great way to draw everyone to the party food table.
Use dinosaur party plates, cups and serviettes too to help reinforce the theme.
Chop up some small logs and use them as a fun way to display food and drinks on the table and to add to the theme.
Or why not take a plain coloured tablecloth and stick on some homemade paper or card dinosaur footprints.
You could even make larger dinosaur footprints and stick them to the floor leading from your front door to the party room. Toddlers and preschoolers will love following the trail!
5. Dinosaur themed party food
Young kids will love dinosaur themed party food and drinks and a dinosaur birthday cake to top things off.
Why not make some sprinkle bread and then cut it out with dinosaur shaped cookie cutters or add small plastic dinosaurs or dinosaur lollies to the top of your cupcakes.
6. Play dinosaur party games
Reinvent traditional party games and turn them into dinosaur party games! Instead of pin the tail on the donkey, play pin the tail on the dinosaur!
Or how about having dinosaur prizes for pass the parcel or set up a dinosaur treasure hunt and get your little party guests to find dinosaur eggs or chocolate eggs around the garden.
7. Party bags
At the end of your party, thank toddlers and preschoolers for coming along by giving them a dinosaur themed party bag filled with dinosaur goodies to take home.
