Being able to read is a vital life skill, so make the early stages of learning the alphabet as fun as possible for your preschooler. Preschoolers learn and develop best through using their whole body, all of their senses and their natural environments. Youll find that most preschoolers begin to recognise letters when theyre about 2 to 3 years old, and are able to identify a large number of letters between 4 and 5 years old.
Through the use of language and open-ended questioning we as parents are able to expand our children's curiosity and ability to reason, their creativity, thinking ability and independence. Open-ended questions have no right or wrong answers, but help to broaden childrens thinking processes, to develop their speech and language skills, and to build confidence in their ability to express themselves using words.
