Contact details

What do I put in the email field?

  • This field is for the email address that you would like displayed on the second page of your ad and will be the email address used by site visitors and Under 5s to contact you.

What do I put in the phone field?

  • This field is for our use only. It's the contact number you would like us to use if we have any questions about your ad, invoicing etc.

  • The phone number will not appear in your ad unless your ask us to include it.

What do I put in the website field?

  • This field is for your business website address.

  • If you don't currently have a website, don't worry! You can put in your Facebook page address instead.

  • We will include a link to your website or Facebook page on the second page of your ad so visitors can click on the link and find out more about your business.

What do I do if the ad type I want isn't listed?

  • Our Advertising Form is for Directory Listing ads only. If you would like to take up another of our advertising options email us at with your details.

How long will my ad run?

  • All Directory Listing ads run for 1 year.

Which category should I choose?

  • The best way to choose a category is to put yourself in the shoes of our site visitors.

  • Ask yourself where parents would look and expect to find your products or services, then select a category from our list of options.

Ad content

What do I need to include in the Ad page 1 field?

  • Your ad has 2 pages and the first page is used to give a brief overview or summary of what your business has to offer.

  • You can either type the details or copy and paste text into the field. Maximum 60 words.

  • The first page of your ad is seen by visitors when they search the Under 5s site by category or use the internal Search function.

  • People can click through from the first page of your ad to the second page by clicking on the green 'Find out more' button.

What do I need to include in the Ad page 2 field?

  • The second page of your ad allows you to describe your business, products and/or services in more depth and include a link to your business website or Facebook page and a link to your email address.

  • This page has unlimited text so you're able to include as much information as you want to help entice people to click on your website or Facebook link.
  • Page 2 of your ad is also the page that is picked up by the major search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo etc, so be sure to use key words to help increase your ranking place on these sites.

What type of image or logo can I upload for my ad?

  • First save your image or logo to your desktop as a square JPEG or PNG file 560 pixels wide x 560 pixels tall.

  • Click on the Browse button on the Advertising Form and upload the image/logo file from your desktop.

  • Once your ad is live the image or logo will appear as a thumbnail image (160 x 160 pixels) on the first page of your ad and as a larger image (330 x 330 pixels) on the second page.

  • The image is compressed for optimal page loading. So clear, bold images work best, rather than images with lots or text or detail which tend to become a little blurry when they're compressed.


Meta data

Do I need to fill in the meta data fields?

  • No these are optional fields and we can complete the meta data details for you if it's easier.

  • However if you have any key words or phrases that you or your customers use frequently please add them into the fields and we'll incorporate them for you.

What do I put in the meta title field?

  • Meta data including the meta title information, sits behind your ad and isn't visible when people view your ad.

  • Meta titles are recognised by the major search engines such as Google and enable better search engine results and help to maximise your online exposure.

  • Try to ensure your meta title describes your business and products or services so site visitors know what you offer at a glance.

  • Keep your meta title below 69 characters including spaces, as this is the maximum that will be displayed in search engine results.

  • If you leave the meta title field blank, a title will be created automatically.

What do I put in the meta page description field?

  • The meta page description is displayed underneath the meta title in the search engine results.

  • The meta page description should be no more than 1 or 2 sentences long and summarise your business, products or services.

  • Keep the description below 156 characters (including spaces), as this is the maximum that may be displayed in search engine results.

  • If you leave this field blank, it will default to the text on the first page of your Directory Listing.

What do I put in the meta keywords field?

  • Although meta keywords are not so important anymore for search engine rankings, they are used by Under 5s own internal search function.

  • In this field, please include keywords or common words that people use when they contact you or talk about your business, products or services.

  • Separate each word with a space rather than a comma. Maximum 255 characters (including spaces).

What is the promotion code field?

  • From time to time we run promotions and will ask for a promotion code to be entered into this field.

  • Otherwise, please leave this field blank.
