CHRISTCHURCH: Bumble Bees Swim School in Beckenham, Christchurch specialises in swimming lessons for babies, toddlers and preschoolers right through to school aged swimmers.

We offer a comprehensive, planned and progressive swim programme, operating one swim class at a time with a maximum of 5 children in the pool to ensure they get ample teacher attention.

At Bumble Bees Swim School we pride ourselves on our friendly, dedicated and professional swim teachers who strive to ensure your baby, toddler or preschooler reaches their swimming potential in a fun filled and positive environment.

We want your child to gain confidence and develop a love of the water from an early age.

At Bumble Bees Swim School we also believe that swimming progressions will occur at the rate in which each individual child is ready. Positive encouragement with their swimming, not force, is our policy.

Swimming Lessons for Babies, Toddlers & Preschoolers

Swimming lessons at Bumble Bees Swim School follow a progressive and planned programme designed especially for babies from 5 months, toddlers and preschoolers right through to advanced swimmers.

All our staff are fully qualified swim teachers who hold Swimming New Zealand and/or Austswim qualifications and under go intensive and ongoing in-house training.

Bumble Bees swimming lessons are based around the learning triangle of child – parent – teacher, keeping parents in the water until their child is swimming fully independently and is safe in deep water.

This learning process comes with many benefits, including:
 

• children are constantly moving around the swimming pool and active rather than waiting their turn

 

• children progress faster with their swimming due to more practice time

 

• anxious children feel safe and secure with their parent in the water with them

 

• parents are being educated at the same time, so are able to practice the swimming skills learnt outside of lesson time at public pools

At Bumble Bees Swim School our swim classes all run for 30 minutes in our pool which is heated to a comfortable 32 degrees.

We believe that consistency is important to learning, so we try very hard to keep your child with the same teacher from term to term.

Children continue at Bumble Bees Swim School until they are ready to progress into the advanced programme at McMillan’s Aquatic Centre from 5 - 10 years of age.
