Yoyo Shakers

These yoyo shakers are easy to make and a great way to teach your little one about music and different rhythms. Why not get a group of children together and play to the same beat or show them how to move with the rhythm and dance together.
These yoyo shakers are easy to make and a great way to teach your little one about music and different rhythms.

Why not get a group of children together and play to the same beat or show them how to move with the rhythm and dance together.

What you will need

  • 2 small yoghurt pots (washed & dried)
  • Paint or stick-on jewels, feathers, ribbons or other arts & crafts materials
  • 2 wooden spoons or forks
  • Cardboard
  • Pen or pencil
  • Buttons or dried rice or pasta
  • PVA glue

How to make your yoyo shakers

1. Take your yoghurt pots and wooden spoons or forks and decorate them with paint or other arts and crafts materials and leave them to dry.

2. Using the pen or pencil, draw around the top of the yoghurt pots onto the cardboard to make the cardboard lids.

3. Fill the yoghurt pots with buttons or dried pasta or rice to about 3/4 full.

4. Glue the cardboard lids onto the top of the yoghurt pots and leave them to dry.

5. Glue a painted wooden spoon or fork to the top of each of the yoghurt pots.

Your yoyo shakers are now ready to use. Let the music begin!
