Why not have a go at making your own!

It's easy to turn your kids artwork into a unique, personalised lamp shade they’ll love having in their bedroom.

Or if your little one is too young for drawing, why not create the artwork yourself instead.

How to make an arty lamp shade

What you'll need for your lamp shade

  • Paper and crayons or one of your kids existing crayon masterpieces

  • Bedside lamp base

  • White or light-coloured lamp shade

  • Strong white glue

  • Water for mixing with the glue

  • Paintbrush

  • Craft wire (optional)

  • Small toy (optional)

How to make your lamp shade

1. Get your kids to draw a crayon masterpiece on the paper or use artwork they’ve created already.

2. Cut out shapes or images from the drawing (such as people, trees etc) and glue them to the outside of the lamp shade.

3. With a solution of 3 parts glue to 1 part water, paint over each of the cut-outs on the lamp shade, coating all the edges.

4. Allow the glue to dry and apply another 2 or 3 coats, allowing each application to dry before applying the next.

5. Once the lamp shade has dried completely, fit it to the lamp base or light fitting and your bedroom decoration is complete!
