How to make slime
What you’ll need for your slime
- 2 ¼ cups cornflour (plus a little extra)
- ½ cup shampoo
- 6 tablespoons water (approx.)
- Food colouring in the colour of your choice
- Bowl or plastic container for mixing in
- Spoon for mixing
How to make your own slime
1. Mix the shampoo and a couple of drops of food colouring together in a bowl or plastic container.
2. Mix in the cornflour.
3. Add the water 1 tablespoon at a time.
4. Once it’s all mixed together you will have this amazing slime like dough you can play with.
Useful tips for your slime
- The slime should roll into a ball, but if it’s too wet add a little bit more cornflour.
- The dough should also be nice and shiny and soften and melt in your hands. If not, slowly add a tiny drop or two of water until you get the right consistency.
- The slime can get quite messy so you may want your kids to play with it outside.
- The slime may also start to dry out after a while, so just mix in a few more drops of water and you’ll be good to go again.
- Once your kids have finished playing with the slime, scrape it into a plastic container and keep it sealed to use again the next day.
- The slime will keep for a few days, just add a few drops of water each time before you start to get the right consistency.
