Our rocking horses
At The Rocking Horse Place we make horses in the style of the old English rocking horses and also New Zealand’s own unique styles of rocking horses.
These can be made using our lovely native or exotic timbers which give us a beautiful wood grain finish or they can be made using plywood which gives an amazing pattern of swirls over the surface of the horse.
You may just want a traditional dapple grey rocking horse or maybe a copy of your own horse. Either way the Rocking Horse Place can make a rocking horse to suit you.
Our rocking horses come in an array of sizes, from a horse to suit a child from about 18 months to 8 - 9 years, through to a horse that can take a small adult.
Our horses can be mounted on bow rockers or a swing stand.
Each of the rocking horses is fitted with a mane and tail of real horse hair. They all have glass eyes and the tack is leather.
Of course if you choose not to use horse hair then the mane and tail can be carved on to the horse.
Each rocking horse is personalised with a brass coloured plaque. Its name is engraved on the plaque along with a dedication to the fortunate child who is to receive the rocking horse.

Our Wild Ones collection is for those who don't want a rocking horse, but would like another animal instead!
We make an array of different animals such as lions, dragons, zebras, giraffes or we will take commissions for your own unique animal.
Hobby horses
Our wooden hobby horses are designed for active kids, with a bit of imagination they can take it anywhere.
Our hobby horses are available in a range of colours, including natural, dark brown, tan, blue, red, orange or green.
