Bubble wrap roller painting

What you’ll need for your bubble wrap roller painting

  • Scissors
  • Bubble wrap
  • Rolling pin
  • Sellotape
  • Washable paint in various colours
  • Tea tray or baking tray to put the paint on
  • Paper to paint on

Setting up your bubble wrap roller painting

1. Using the scissors cut the bubble wrap so it fits the width of the rolling pin and is long enough to wrap around the rolling pin once.

2. Wrap the bubble wrap around the rolling pin with the bubble side facing out and secure it with the Sellotape.

3. Pour each of the paints onto the tray in lines side by side using as many colours as you like (like a rainbow).

4. Roll the rolling pin through the paint and then roll it onto the paper.

5. Keep rolling, creating your artwork as you go, until all the paint is used up.

6. Replace the bubble wrap and begin again.

Tips for bubble wrap roller painting

  • The rolling pin can be any size, from your usual kitchen one to your kids play dough one. Or if you don't have a rolling pin, try using a bottle to roll with.

  • You can use any type of paint for this activity, but washable paints are easier to clean up.

  • Bubble wrap rolling can get messy, so you may want to try doing it outside!
